Kristin Korendyke, Executive Director
Kristin Korendyke, a founding board member, is a native of Kalamazoo and a graduate of Western Michigan University. She lives in Ludington and is a former middle school teacher. The mother of 5 girls, she has been involved in 4-H, Girl Scouts, and Girls on the Run. She has been a Sunday School teacher and accompanies her girls and other teens on mission trips. She and her husband recently renovated and operate the Ludington Beach House.
Kristin served as Board President from the establishment of Sandcastles Children's Museum until the end of July, 2012, when she resigned her position on the board to become the first Executive Director of Sandcastles. Since Sandcastles was established in 2006, the Board of Directors had assumed responsibility for all tasks associated with the museum, assisted by many wonderful volunteers and part-time employees. One of our long-term goals had been to hire an Executive Director to coordinate all of our efforts and to take charge of day-to-day operations. It was a natural transition for Kristin, and the Board is delighted she accepted the position. As Executive Director, she works closely with the Board as an ex-officio member. She promotes the museum’s mission while serving as spokesperson for the museum.
