Andrea Carlson (President) A native of Colorado,  Andrea worked for the local Chamber on special events promoting the area.  Currently she is active in the elementary schools PTC and is a stay home mom to her 2 children. She has been chair of the Publicity Committee, and she updates and manages our Facebook page. 

Marsha Barter (Past President/VP; Grants) is a graduate of Central Michigan University with a BA in English and Secondary Education. She earned an MA in Gifted and Talented Education (CMU) and an MA in Educational Leadership (WMU). She has been a teacher, a consultant for gifted programs, and the director of the Mason-Lake Oceana Mathematics and Science Center. She served as president of the Pentwater Preschool Cooperative and as a school board member in Pentwater. 

Darlene Ponko (Secretary) is a graduate of Western Michigan University with a BA in Elementary Education. She taught 30 years for the Ludington Area Schools. Darlene is active in many community service/social organizations such as AAUW, P.E.O, and Beta Sigma Phi. 

Conny Bax (Treasurer) was born in Canada, where she graduated from Laurentian University with a BS in Commerce.  As a CPA, she has worked for multiple industries, including food service, health, automotive, manufacturing, and non-profit. She currently works for FloraCraft and is a member of the Ludington Rotary Club.  She enjoys hiking, biking, camping, kayaking, canoeing, and cross-country skiing.

Laura Paine (Exhibits) attended University of Denver and Utah State University, earning a BS degree in Forestry. After working several years in Idaho for the USFS and BLM she returned home to Michigan where she operated her upholstery business for 10 years. Laura is active with Ludington Area Catholic Educational Foundation, the Oriole Foundation, PEO, and  the Leland Yacht Club. 

Melissa Stowe-Loyd is a Ludington native and a graduate of the University of Michigan (BA) and DePaul College of Law (JD). She is an attorney who recently returned to Ludington with her family. She is a member of the Mason/Lake County Bar Association and Coordinator of Constitution Day Activities with Ludington High School. She is a volunteer attorney for the COVE Legal Clinic, a member of the Chamber of Commerce, and a member of St. Simon’s Catholic Church.

Debbie Chase has had a variety of work experience including pre-school teacher’s aide, school bus driver, and farm hand (including driving and maintaining machinery).  She was a 4-H leader in Oceana County for 26 years for children raising horses, cattle, and pigs.  She is currently president of Michigan Underwater Preserves Council and VP of West Michigan Underwater Preserve. She is a member of Ludrock, an ROV program assistant, a scuba diver, and a world traveler. 

Nanette Kibbey-Scribner has an Associates in Medical Laboratory Technician, a BS in Biology,  and teacher certification from Ferris State University. She is currently Chief Lab Technologist at Mercy Health - Lakeshore Campus.  She is treasurer for Ludrock and for Lakeshore Employee Auxiliary,  a Webelos Den Leader in Ludington, and a former Boy Scout and Cub Scout leader in Scottville. She belongs to Ludington UM Church and Ludington Area Council for the Arts.

Deb Boerema is a retired cosmetologist who also worked in insurance. She was the village clerk for Fountain for many years. She lives in Ludington. Deb is a member of the Lakeshore Parrotheads and leader of Knittin’ at the Mitten. She belongs to the Ludington Area Center for the Arts, and she instructs our Crafts Camp, as well as many other arts and crafts projects throughout the year.
